Keta Petrova was born in 1961, in the village of Ustrem, Topolovgrad Municipality, Bulgaria. She graduates Technical school in electrical engineering “G. S. Rakovski” in Stara Zagora. She has been painting since she was a child, but more actively since 15 years of age. She paints mainly on canvas with oil paints by fingers. She paints as well on wood, stone, paper with tempera paint and acrylic paint. She has 10 exhibitions in the library of the „Contemporary” Community center in Plovdiv. She took part in the exhibition “Art – a parallel universe” in 2011, which was organized by the Union of the Blind in Bulgaria in the Gallery in 6 “Shipka”Str. In Sofia, in the Youth theatre “Nikolay Binev”, and at the “Trakart” Gallery in Plovdiv. The exhibition was part of a series of events, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the Union of the Blind in Bulgaria. After that, the exhibition visited the Bulgarian Parliament, as well as the European Parliament in Brussels.

In the first years of her working career, Keti worked at the Manufacturing Enterprise “Uspeh” at the Union of the Blind in Bulgaria. After that, she worked as an associate at the territorial organization of the Union of the Blind in Plovdiv.  

Keti shares:

„I have learned there the most important things in my life. One should work and do things in such a way that people like them for their beauty and value, rather than being accepted due to the fact that one does not see well. One should compete with all people – both visually impaired and not visually impaired, and when one does that, then he/she achieves something. I want my paintings to be liked not because of the fact that I am visually impaired, but due to their quality and their impact on people.“
