BASIC REHABILITATION
Physical culture
With the loss of sight there come restrictions in the self- dependent activity of man who is forced to stop moving mainly because of fear and disability to move under the new conditions and the temporary mental disorder that has appeared. The longer one does not move, the deeper the changes in the human organism exist revealed in the reduced lung ventilation, higher minute breathing amount, weakened muscular activity and partial atrophy of the muscles, highly weakened cardiac vascular activity, weak blood circulation, reduced activity of the glands with inner secretion and disorder in the vegetative function of the organism. Counteraction and repulse to these atrophies give the physical culture and the sport activities.
The school program of physical education has mainly a corrective and rehabilitation characteristics. The main aim of the program is to achieve a good general physical preparation, to develop the motive qualities (speed, strength, endurance, pliability, dexterity), to create a habit for individual activities and to eliminate the mental disorder, which is a consequence from the loss of sight. Through rational application of the various forms of the physical culture in the daily and week regime the motive activity is being enriched – so necessary for the stimulation of the physical perfection of the visually impaired people. The physical culture helps creating a biological base for good mental working capacity as well as raising the adaptive abilities of the organism. The improving of the physical abilities is a fundamental task of the physical culture through which a proper mental preparation is being achieved necessary for the endurance of the great mental exploitation of the visually impaired people.
The tasks of this program are performed according to plan and purposeful with the application of group, individual and strictly differentiated approach in the different forms of activities foreseen in the program. The school content is being differentiated according to school degrees and different ages and is being adapted to the concrete needs, abilities and health condition of the trainees. The teacher has the opportunity to select the topics during the training according to the ocular disease, the additional illnesses and defects, the mental predisposition and the endurance of will of the trainees.
The lessons of physical culture are closely connected with the lessons of mobility. They help the whole training- rehabilitation process.
